Join the Team
Burncoat Robotics is a FIRST Robotics Competition team based at Burncoat High School in Worcester, Massachusetts. Known as the Green Reapers, our team designs, builds, programs, and competes with a 120 pound robot each year as part of an international high school robotics program.
Students on the Green Reapers work together throughout the season to solve complex engineering challenges, test ideas, and refine designs under real deadlines. Team members contribute in many different ways, from mechanical design and programming to strategy, media, and outreach.
No prior robotics or engineering experience is required. Students join the team with a wide range of interests and backgrounds and learn by doing, supported by mentors and teammates as they develop technical skills, confidence, and teamwork.
Who Can Join?
Burncoat High School Students
Students currently enrolled at Burncoat High School are always welcome to join the team, you just need to attend our meetings.
Students from Other Schools
Students from outside Burncoat may be able to participate, depending on available space and resources. If you are interested, please contact us to discuss availability. We may require non-Burncoat students to fill out a questionnaire.
What Students Do
Team members contribute in many different ways, including:
Mechanical design and fabrication
Programming and controls
CAD and prototyping
Electrical wiring and systems
Strategy, scouting, and drive team support
Media, outreach, and team operations
Students are encouraged to explore different roles and discover what interests them most.
Time Commitment
The team meets year-round, with a more intensive schedule from January to April when we are building and competing. Students should expect to commit time consistently and communicate with mentors if conflicts arise. The best time to join is in the fall when school starts but it is better to join late than not at all.
